Sniper Alan Lisle Flower, of Wakapuaka, whose name appeared as a labourer drawn in the final ballot for single men, is serving overseas as a volunteer. He has been in a Middle East hospital once and also received a oayonet wound in the wrist. He enlisted and was rejected for health reasons but after undergoing a severe ' operation he again enlisted and sailed j for Egypt. Before joining the Army ; le owned a sheep farm at Wakapuaka ; and as a seasonal occupation was en-, imaged as a foreman in the Government j Jeer culling operations in the Nelson ; and Westland provinces.
