SOLDIERS INVALIDED HOME
QUESTION OF N'OTIFK AI ( REQUEST TO MINISTER Ol DEFENCE A general meeting of the Nelson Provincial Patriotic Council endorsed the action of the executive in writing to the Minister of Defence requesting that in future adequate notification be given to the local authorities of the arrival of soldiers invalided home The report of the executive on the subject was as follows:—“The executive has been much concerned with the fact that wounded men have been allower to return to their homes without any intimation from Army Headquarters to the civic or patriotic authorities. Tnis failure on the part of the Army Department has deprived local residents of the opportunity of affording the men an appropriate welcome and has given rise to the suggestion that the people generally are lacking in appreciation and ordinary decent feeling. The executive has accordingly protested to the Hon. the Minister of Defence and has asked that instructions be given that full information of the return of men from the front be supplied in every case. It is hoped that in future civic authorities will be given the opportunity of making suitable arrangements for the reception of our lighting men to whom we owe so much."
