BOXING MATCHES AT AUCKLAND
Auckland, Aug. 4. Two professional boxing contests were held to-night. In the main bout Clarrie Gordon. Auckland. lOst lib, beat Gunner D. Eddington, Papakura Camp, formerly of Timaru, 10.5. This contest, which was scheduled for ten three-minute rounds, ended at the end of the fifth. On returning to his corner Eddington complained of a hand injury and it was found he had broken a bone in his wrist. This made Gordon’s third consecutive win since joining professional ranks. The professional preliminary was be tween lightweights. Geoff Thomas. Taranaki. 8.13, and Hughie Sheridan. Auckland. 8.10. Thomas winning on points at the end of eight three-minute rounds.—P A.
