Taylor ; being called upon to make two saves in ! quick succession. In another exciting attack on the Thistle g< al. Reid's shot struck the post and went to Smillie. whose shot struck the crossbar, and was cleared by Allan. Carneross re 'turned to Salt, in a handy position, and he made no mistake, giving Taylor no | chance of saving. Air Force 1. Thistle ' 0. Thistle then took up the* attack, and Ferguson put in a shot which McKellar caught. When bustled by the Thistle ; forwards ho dropped the hall for Du Fue to tip into the net. Thistle 1. Good combination by the Air Force forwards placed Allen in possession, and he gave Taylor no chance of saving. Air Force 2. Thistle 2. This was the half time score. Upon resumption. Thistle made a raid. Du Feu being just too high with a good shot. Salt then sent out to Srnil lie who put in a fine run to the right corner and put in a perfect centre for i Reid to send past Taylor. Air Force 3, Thistle 2. A fast attack by the Thistle left saw Pa hi centre. McKellar caught the. ball and bounced it. endeavouring to clear, but the Thistle forward hustled the ball into the net. Thistle 3. Air F orce A fast move by the Air Force left wing saw Curtin force a corner, which he placed right into the goalmouth for Stables to head past Taylor. Air Force 4. Thistle 3. Each side was attacking in turn. Ferguson received in a handy position, but shot wide. Good play by Salt placed Allen in possession, and he scored with a rising shot. Air Force 5, Thistle 3. Air Force kept up the pressure, and exciting play took place around the Thistle goal, four Air Force forwards shooting from close range. Thistle had packed their goal and the halt could not get through. MeKnight made one excellent save. His high clearing kick was secured by Campbell and quickly sent forward to Du Feu, who raced through to score. Thistle 4. Air Force Ashwell was prominent in breaking up several Thistle attacks. Air Force were pressing again when Guthrie made a faulty clearing kick. Allen secured and made no mistake. Air Force 6, Thistle 4. Mr M. Cuthbert was the referee. After the match the president of the Nelson Football Association (Mr A. E. Coxhill) presented the cup, and congratulated the winners upon their excellent exhibition. H. Salt, captain of the Air Force team, replied.
