MOVE BY UNITED STATES TIGHTENING UP AGAINST AXIS PART IN BATTLE OF ATLANTIC Washington. July 31 President Roosevelt has set up an Economic Defence Board, headed by the Vice-President, Mr Wallace, to direct economic defence activities. This move is regarded as a step to tighten up the economic war against the Axis. It is believed that the board will maintain contact with the British Ministry of Economic Warfare. The members of the board include: The Secretary of State, Mr Hull; the Secretary of the Treasury, Mr Morgenthau; the Secretary of War. Mr Stimson: the Secretary of the Navy, Colonel Knox; the Secretary of Agriculture. Mr Wickard: the Secretary of Commerce, Mr Jones; and Mr Francis Biddle.
