DUTCH MINISTERIAL PARTY
WELCOMED AT WELLINGTON TO-DAY [United Press Association) Wellington, This Day. The Dutch Ministerial party wag welcomed at Wellington by the Acting Prime Minister, Mr Nash, Sir Hairy Batterbee, High Commissioner for Great Britain, and Dr Riddell, the Canadian High Commissioner. The Ministers, Mr Van Kleffens and Mr Welter said that they were delighted with what they had seen of New Zealand which reminded them of both Holland and Britain. Count Van Rechteren said that he would never forgive the early Dutch explorers for colonising only the spice countries. “When Abel Tasman came here and could not find a nutmeg, he went away and left this beautiful country.” The Ministers paid a formal call on the Acting-Prime Minister and the Mayor, and placed a wreath on the Citizens’ War Memorial. Later they are going sight-seeing, and will be guests at a State luncheon to-morrow.
