SCHOONER AT ALEXANDRIA EVACUEES FROM GREECE
[British Official Wireless] (.Rec. 2.0 p.m.) Rugby, May 18. A small Greek schooner which arrived at Alexandria with four British officers, six privates, and two Greek noncommissioned officers, brought Lieu-tenant-Commander Nigel Willmott who directed the evacuation of over 10,000 New Zealanders and Australians from the Attica area east of Athens in two nights, says the United ress of Great Britain’s Alexandria correspondent. Lieutenant-Commander Willmott had many adventures, making his own escape to Alexandria. The small Diesel engine of the schooner after frequently I breaking down, blew up and set tire to I the ship, which later went aground. I The crew landed, extinguished the fire, j and pushed off the ship.
