TINS FOR SOLDIERS’ PARCELS

MORE REQUIRED FOR NEXT SHIPMENT Sir.—Recently through the kindly cooperation of the Nelson Education Board and the teaching staffs of all schools in the province the school children collected for our parcels committee some four thousand tins the great majority of which are very suitable for the purpose intended. My committee through the columns of your paper, sir, would now like to thank all those who rendered us this valuable help. As the result of this fine effort 960 tins of cake have already been made in some of the tins collected and are ready for packing. We have some 600 still available for cake but require a further 400 to make sufficient for the next shipment in August. We hereby make an appeal to householders to save all tea and cocoa tins that will hold about ljlbs of currant cake. Please also save all bakingpowder tins and lib treacle tins as these are most useful for the packing of sweets. The willingness of householders to assist us makes it possible for us to supply the cake that the boys overseas repeatedly request.—l am, etc., J. A. HARLEY, Convenor Parcels Committee.
