ARRANGEMENTS FOR INVESTITURE At the monthly meeting of the Mo- , tueka Scout Committee, held in Mrs Manifold’s shop, there were present [ Messrs Beatson (chairman), Manifold, j Russell, Somerville, Wallis and Blair (assistant scoutmaster) and Mesdames Inwood. Manifold and Warren. The scoutmaster (Mr Murray J. Savage) reported that two boys had passed all their tenderfoot tests and had now qualified for that badge while sev- ; eral others had only one or two tests remaining in which to qualify. During the May holidays it was hoped that several outdoor excursions would be possible. “As soon as is practicable I hope to have the whole troop in uniform.” the report stated. “The difficulty of securing the correct scarf has been mention* ; ed but perhaps investigations will re--1 veal where these can be obtained or ; made. ’ “We would welcome the co-operation • and assistance of the committee mem I bers in improvements to the scout room and the addition of a blackboard 1 for instructional work, also the ques- ' tion of effectively blacking out the win--1 dows.” * Arising out of the report it was de- ? cided that material be purchased for ? one dozen scarves. Mrs Inwood, who ; kindly offered to make the scarves was } thanked by the chairman, who, expressed pleasure at the progress being made by the troop. As it is expected that a number of 5 month the secretary was instructed to 5 write the District Commissioner asking > him to visit Motueka at an early date, ? if possible, for an investiture of scouts. r Preliminary arrangements were made - in connection with this ceremony and ! 5 it was agreed that parents be invited to * co-operate. 2 In respect to the carrying out of im- * provements to the troop room the com--1 mittee decided to form a working bee y and assist the scouts in making their room more attractive.
