NEW ZEALANDERS RETURN FROM GREECE MESSAGE TO PEOPLE OF DOMINION TUnited Press Association) Wellington, May 15. The following message to the people of New Zealand from the Brigadier Commanding Divisional Troops in Egypt has been received by the Director of Publicity from the N.Z.E.F Official News Service in the Middle East:— Cairo, May 13. “The New Zealand Division returned j from their brief campaign in Greece with heads held high and honour unI tarnished. Throughout the days of I fighting rearguard actions the Division on every occasion held its position for | the time stipulated, inflicting hard 1 knocks on the enemy Breaking off actions at nightfall when ordered to do so. it completed long and arduous withdrawals under the cover of darkness to fresh positions whence to fight once more "Finally the men reached the embarkation beaches in orderly disciplined units, retaining all arms and equipment except heavy guns which perforce had to be destroyed, every man carrying in addition to arms f ome item of valuable equipment Now they are hard at work, cheerful and confident, preparing for whatever further tasks they may be called upon to undertake.”
