NELSON FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION
ANNUAL MEETING HELD AIR FORCE TEAM TO PLAY THIS YEAR The annual meeting of the Nelson Football Association was held in the [.X.L. rooms. Mr A. E. Coxhill presided jver an enthusiastic group of members. The chairman in his opening remarks welcomed the members and specially thanked the Air Force representative. Sergeant Carncross, for his attendance. Sergeant Carncross briefly addressed the meeting and said that there were several first-class players at the station at Tahunanui and that they expected to field quite a good team, which would give a good display after a game or two together. It was stated that the Association had lost about sixteen senior players who had joined the fighting forces, so it was very heartening to have the Air Force team to be the fourth senior team this season. The treasurer’s report showed a cash balance of £l2 7s 8d and he reported that the various assets of the Association were in good condition. The election of officers resulted as follows: — Patron. Mr W. Black; president, Mr A. E. Coxhill; vice-chairmen, Messrs W. Richards, T. E. Preen; vice-presidents. Messrs P. H. Kitchingman, N. Kerr, Gibbs Motors. Newman's Motors, J. Charters, A. Robinson, W. Beveridge; secretary, to be appointed; treasurer. Mr E. Lowans; executive, Messrs D. Willis, A. R. Hurst, Hancock and Sergeant Carncross; delegate to N.Z.F.A., Mr F. Sanders; referees, Messrs W. Richards, A. Smith, F. Du Feu, J. Black, K. McKenzie and Hancock; selector, Mr W. Richards. A special vote of thanks was passec to the “Evening Mail” for the great help given to Association football in Nelson. The sum of one guinea was donated tc the St. John Ambulance for its service* throughout the sason. A vote of thanks was passed to Mi Preen for the use of his room for meetings.
