NEW WAR PRODUCTION PROGRAMME SURVEY OF INDUSTRIES [U.P.A.-By Electric Telegraph-Copyright) LONDON, 9th December. It is learnt in Delhi to-day that one immediate result of the Empire conference on war supplies is a new war production programme for India. The British War Supplies Mission, | headed by Sir Alexander Rodger, is I now making a complete survey so that the new programme may be put into force as quickly and as actively as possible. GAOL SENTENCE GIVEN NEHRU’S SISTER BOMBAY, 9th December. Mrs Vijayalakshmi Pandit was sentenced to four months’ gaol for civil disobedience. (Mrs Pandit is a sister of Jawaharlal Pandit Nehur, president of the Congress Party, who is at present serving about his eighth term of imprisonment for political activities. She herself was imprisoned as a member of the non-co-operation campaign in 1932. She was the first woman Cabinet Minister in India, being Minister of Local Government and Public Health in the United Provinces Government from 1937 up to the resignation a year ago of the Congress Provincial Governments. )
