AIR LOSSES OVER BRITAIN
FIRST WEEK IN DECEMBER 65 GERMAN AIRMEN TO ONE BRITISH PILOT [British Official Wireless! (Received 10th December, 10 a.m.) RUGBY, 9th December. During the week ending at midnight on 7th December 26 German aircraft were shot down over Britain. Eight British machines were lost, but seven out of the eight R.A.F. pilots are safe. Air crew losses in the week as far as the air war over Britain was concerned were, therefore, in a ratio of approximately 65 to one. On the 3rd, 4th and 6th December no losses were incurred by either side. Losses of aircraft for other days in December are as follows: —December 1: German 8, British 5, all R.A.F. pilots safe. December 2: German 2, British 1. the R.A.F. pilot safe. December 5 : German 14, British 2. one pilot safe. December 6 : German 2. British nil.
