NAVAL OFFICERS
NEW ZEALAND CANDIDATES PROMOTED [United Press Association) WELLINGTON. This Day. An announcement that the six candidates for service in the Royal Navy under Scheme A who left New Zealand on 11th August, 1940, have been promoted by the Admiralty to the rank of temporary Lieutenants, R.N.V.R., from 9th November, was made on Saturday by the Minister of Defence, Mr Jones. “Of the six officers four have been appointed in command of auxiliary vessels and the remaining two to destroyers transferred from the United States navy to the Royal Navy,” said the Minister. The new officers are Messrs J. L. Allan (Wellington), S. C. Bradley (Wellington), R. K. Entwisle (Levin), J. E. Hancox (Wellington), A. G. Hanson (Wellington), E. C. W. Hassall (Napier).
