THIRD OF WAY TOWARDS GOAL
ALL PURPOSES APPEAL F£»R £1,000,000 COMMITTEES PRAISED [United Press Association] WELLINGTON, This Day. With £367,000 already accounted for, a third of the way toward the goal of £ 1,000,000 in the All Purposes Patriotic Appeal, has now been passed. The honorary Dominion organiser, Mr J. Aleb, announcing this figure on Saturday, praised the committees, which, he said, were doing excellent work in pushing forward the campaign for funds. Considering that some of the major provincial centres had not yet fully organised for their appeal, he was confident that the back of the campaign would be well broken early in the New Year. He drew attention particularly to the wonderful efforts of some of the smaller zones in the provinces which, he said, had shown the way to the larger centres. The results achieved in these small places had shown the value of effort. The figures are as follows:—Auckland Province, "103,000; Canterbury Province, £64,500; Otago Province, £61,000; Wellington Province, £51,757; B.iy, £28,000; East Coast’ £23,000; Southland, £13,500; Nelson, £9000; Taranaki, £550(3; Westland’, £4300; Marlbo: ugh, £3500. Total £367,057.
