Last night, for the third successive night, German raids on this country were slight and ceased shortly after midnight. The Air Ministry reports that a squadron of Spitfires to-day without loss shot down eight Messersschmitt 109’s off the Kent coast. 1 German heavy guns at Cap Gris-nez inaugurated a violent artillery duel across the Straits of Dover, which continued for an hour. German night 1 raiders crossed the south-east coast and dropped bombs inland.
