SHIP RECENTLY LOST
DELAY IN LOADING DENIED [From Our Own Parliamentary Reporter] WELLINGTON, This Day. Reference to the loading of the British vessel which is believed to have been lost off the New Zealand coast as the result of an attack by an enemy raider towards the end of last month was made in the House of Representatives by the Prime Minister (Mr Fraser) yesterday afternoon. Mr Fiaser said it had been brought to his notice on several occasions, and it had been mentioned in the precincts of Parliament House and in a letter shown to him that day, that the claim was made that there was some culpable negligence or responsibility in regard to the loading of the ship, and that thei-e was a delay correspondingly, and that that delay might have been the cause of the ship meeting its unfortunate fate. Ho had been advised by Mr C. M. Turrell. chairman of the Overseas Allotment Committee, that beyond about one and a half days lost on account of bad weather there had been no delays in the loading of the ship.
