MEETING OF CITY ASSOCIATION

THE SELLON SHIELD The December meeting of the City Cricket Association was attended by the following delegates: Messrs E. R. Neale, J. Stevens (Old Boys), H. M. McGirr, R. M. Gray (Atheletic), J. Herrick, N. Fielding (Wakatu), A. J. Preece (Y.M.C.A.), A. S. Thomas (Hospital), F. Hobern (Tahuna), A. Wood (Oddfellows), A. Russell (Nelson), C. Exton (Umpires) and A. J. Gray (secretary). Apologies were received from Messrs F. Mitchell (president), R. H. Methven, J. Hall, D. Max and W. Terrill. Mr Neale was elected to the chair, Mr Stevens taking his place later in the meeting. It was decided that the captains of the senior teams be asked to form a committee to award the Sellon Shield, donated last year by Sir Ernest Davis for the best fielding team in the competitions. Mr F. L. Hill asked to be relieved of the position of junior selector, as other duties made it impossible for him to see the matches. Messrs A. S. Thomas, A. Wood and W. Sexton were appointed junior selection committee. It was decided to extend the date for discount on affiliation fees to 10th December. It was pointed out that it was sometimes impossible to fit in the second day of a senior match. It was ruled that in such cases points be allotted in accordance with the position of the teams at the end of the first day. It was decided to hold a meeting on 17th December to discuss the division of the junior grade into A and B sections.
