IMPROPER USE OF OIL FUEL
TRUCK SUPPLY USED IN PRIVATE CAR “it amounts to fraud I think there is a good deal of swindling going on," said the Magistrate, Mr T. E Maunsell, this morning, when John Harwood M-inson was charged that being a purchaser cl oil fuel under a consumer’s license he used the said oil fuel othervd -e than for tne punrpose set out in his application. The defendant did not appear. Detective-Sergeant F. Hayhurst explained that the oil fuel license was granted for use in a truck working on the road under the Public Works Department but defendant used some in his private car. Defendant admitted that he knew that he had no authority to dc so. but thought that it would not be noticed Defendant had a large family and was now working in a forestry camp and had had to give up his truck. The Magistrate commented that he would impose a heavy penalty, but for the fact that defendant was in such a bad position financially A fine of £2 and 10s costs was imposed.
