INTERCESSION
This then is the message which we have heard of Him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth; but if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin. (1 John i, 5-7). O God, in the dark and cloudy day grant us the assurance that there is indeed no darkness in Thee. Let us have but one thing to be afraid of—the death of the spirit. Let there be but one thing that we shrink from—disloyalty to Thee or to our brethren. When the storm is loud, and the soul is sad, and the heart oppressed, grant us to behold anew the light of Thy love, and to experience the renewal of spirit and strength for living that come from the redemption that is in Jesus Christ our Lord.
