STOKE-WAKATU WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the StokeWakatu Women’s Institute was held in the Stoke Hall. The proceedings open--1 ed with the singing of the New Zea- ! land f national song and the repetition of the Creed after which Mrs Corby warmly welcomed all present and quoted the motto for 'he month: “Be ■ friendly, work hard, hope ever.” Mrs Squire, delegate to the council : me'eting in October, gave a comprehenj sive report of the meeting and was , accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The “Golden Thread” was a reading by Mrs Davies from “Pioneer Tales.” Christmas novelties were demontrated by various member.': as follows: i Mrs Davies (lavender ladies), Miss Turner (handkerchiefs with coloured threads drawn through), Mrs Jensen ! (novelty pin cushion, evening bag and I moth ball holder). The competitions were judged by i Mesdames Heath and Schroder, the [results being: Tray cloth, Mrs Corby, 1; I Miss Turner, 2. Best bloom, Mrs A. J. Ching, 1; Mrs Jensen, 2. A dainty ; afternoon lea was served by the hostII esses. i The singing of the National Anthem ,! brought a happy meeting to a close.
