Jumuiv HOSPITAL DEFEATS WAKATU Hospital juniors played Wakatu in | j ideal weather conditions in a junior I | championship cricket match on Sat- i I urdav. The wicket was rather bumpy i, I and the batsmen were often troubled ’ with the ball flying high. Wakatu I batted first and made 76 runs. Burn ! 25 and Crayford 11, were the highest! scorers. Hospital then went to the ! wickets and fared much better. They compiled 171 runs for four wickets. The chief scorers were. McMurray 17, ! Gates 61. Langbein 44. Vercoe not out I 29. Wakatu then had their second strike I and could not settle down at all, as , they made only 38 runs. No batsman ; ! made double figures. Bowling for Hospital Thomas collected an excellent bag of eight wickets for 19 runs; Vercoe. three for 27; Winnie, three for 31; Gates, four for 20; Hibber’t, one for 7. Hospital’s bowling figures are for the two innings !. combined. The Hospital team thus secured an!! outright win.
