GOVERNMENT WIRELESS STATION
IMPROVEMENTS BEING MADE BETTER AERIAL SYSTEM (United Press Asonriationl WELLINGTON, This Day. The first of six new 1 steel towers to be erected on the top of Tinakori Hill to improve the aerial system of ZLW, the Government wireless station, was hoisted this morning in 35 minutes without a hitch A Post Office official explains that a stage has been reached when it is desired to improve the existing services, including the radio-telephone service, and this is being done not by increasing the size of the transmitting apparatus but by the adoption of a better aerial system by having six steel towers spread nut along ridges tops. These towers are to be at the same level, consequently the masts will vary in length from 120 to 155 feet. The old steel tower will eventually be removed.
