POISONED WINE AT BANQUET
PUPPET NANKING GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS LIVES SAVED BY PROMPT MEDICAL ATTENTION (Received 12th June, 1.20 p.m.) SHANGHAI, 11th June. Prompt medical attention saved the lives of 25 high officials of the puppet Nanking Government, including the Premier, Mr Liang Hung-china, also the Japanese foreign Vice-Minister, M. Tomasaburo Shimizu, and other Japanese after drinking poisoned wine at a banquet.- One suspect was arrected. LIEUTENANT COOPER RELEASED f British Official Wireless) RUGBY, 10th June. It is stated in London that Lieutenant Cooper, who was arrested by the Japanese at the same time as the British Military Attache, Lieut.-Colonel Spear, in Kalgan, on 26th May, has been released and will reach Pekin this afternoon.
