NELSON MALE VOICE CHOIR

OPENING OF 1939 SEASON To open its 1939 season on Monday night next, 19th JUne, the Nelson Male Voice Choir has arranged a most attractive programme of entertaining music. In addition to the ever-popular part sinking by the Choir, two soloists will be introduced to a local concert audience: Mrs T. H. Carr, of Blenheim, and Mr T. Y. Wilson, lately of Christchurch, soprano and baritone respectively, both of whom have won distinction in solo work. The instrumentalist will be Miss Alwyn Austin, L.R.S.M.. well-known solo-violinist whose interpretations have been favourably commented on. Quartetts by members of the Choir have also been arranged, and a part song with much local interest will be “O, who will o’er the Downs.** arranged and harmonised for male voices by Mr Thomas Cole, who has done much to foster good music in Nelson.
