FIRE AT MOTUEKA
DWELLING COMPLETELY DESTROYED On Sunday morning at about 11 o’clock a six-roomed dwelling in Whakarewa street, occupied by Mr David Park, was completely destroyed by fire. It is understood that a defective chimney was the cause of the outbreak which originated in the front portion of the house. In a very short time the whole building was ablaze and in less than twenty minutes was razed to the ground. Members of the Fire Brigade, who were quickly on the scene, were unable owing to lack of water to save either house of contents. Mr and Mrs Park will be heavy losers, as only a small quantity of bedding and a sewing machine were rescued by Mr Park before the flames became too fierce. The dwelling belonged to the estate of the late Mrs Mary Park and was nr** insured.
