WHY GROW OLD?

(By Josephine Lowman)

I often receive letters saying, “I do not want exercises for the neck, but for the chin.” The chinline is influenced by the condition of the neck muscles as well as by the boney structure of the jaw. The only way we can mould our chins as we wish them to be, and rid ourselves of scrawny necks and double chins, is to work on the muscles of the neck. To-day’s exercise, if done regularly, will affect in the neck in the most flattering manner. Sit in a chair with the spine straight and the head erect. Turn the head to the left. Try to touch the left shoulder with the chin without lifting the shoulder. Turn the head to the front and on toward the right. Try to touch the right shoulder with the chin without lifting the shoulder. As you turn the head from left to right, keep the chin level but reach up toward the ceiling with the head. Once before in this column I mentioned a neck exercise which is betn beneficial and fun to do. Blow a feather about the room trying to keep it from touching the floor.
