NELSON WEDDING

HARRIS—TOWNSEND At the Nelson Cathedral at 11.30 this morning, the marriage of Nola Mary, daughter of Mr and Mrs F. J. H. Townsend, of Shelbourne street. Nelson, and Francis Forster, son of Mrs and the late Mr J. Liddell Harris, of Ngatitama street. Nelson, was celebrated. The Bishop of Nelson, assisted by the Dean, officiated at the ceremony, and Mr H. S. Claughton was at the organ. The bride, who entered the Cathedral with her father, wore an ivory French velvet gown fashioned in Victorian lines with full skirt forming a graceful train. An ivory uncut tulle veil covered her face during the ceremony. She wore a posy top-knot composed of lily-of-the-valley and orange blossom, and carried a bouquet of white rosebuds, and carnations. The two bridesmaids. Miss Flora Harris. sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Mollie Ledger, wore powder blue and rose shot taffeta frocks with low cut corsage, fashioned on early Victorian lines. Each had a top-knot posy in frock tonings as headdress. They carried posies of stylosi and carnations. Mr Charles S. Harris, of Wellington, who is the brother of the bridegroom, attended him as best man, and Mr M. T. Hishon was the groomsman. Messrs I. M. Deighton and B. S. Lee acted as ushers.

During the signing of the register. Miss Zillah Smith charmingly rendered “Where’er You Walk” by Handel.

After the ceremony the luncheon reception was held at the Mia Mia tearooms. The bride’s mother, Mrs F. J. E. Townsend, wore a grey tailored suit with accessories to match, and she carried a violet posj. Mrs L Harris, the bridegroom’s mother, was wearing a nigger brown crinkled crepe frock with matching marabout, she wore a moss green velour hat , and carried an autumn tinted posy. When Mr and Mrs F. F. Harris left on their honeymoot the bride travelled in a huntsman green tweed tailored costume and hat. navy accessories and silver fox fur. They will make their home in Christchurch.
