101st BIRTHDAY

MASTERTON RESIDENT Mrs J. Reynolds, . Renall street, Masterton, will celebrate her 101st birthday to-day. She still enjoys good health, and knits, sews and reads without glasses. Apart from being a little hard of hearing, Mrs Reynold’s faculties are unimpaired; she takes a keen interest in the affairs of the day, and every day she goes for a motor ride with her daughter, Miss Amy Reynolds. Born in Middlesex in 1938, Mrs Reynolds was married in England and came to New Zealand in 1864, 76 years ago, settling in the Wairarapa, where she and her husband took up land at “Mayfield,” East Taratahi. Mr Reynolds died 33 years ago, and for the last 30 years Mrs Reynolds has lived in Masterton. Of their 11 children, six sons and one daughter are living. The sons are Messrs G. E.. “Mayfield,” East Taratahi, F. M., Masterton, C. L. Middleton, W. H., Papakura, L., Whangarei, and W. E., Greymouth. The daughter, Miss Reynolds, live": with her mother in Masterton.
