Mr Hector Bywater, in the “Daily Telegraph” says he understands that as a result of Anglo-Australian-New Zealand negotiations British battleships have been earmarked for the Pacific service in the event of an emergency. The number and names cannot be disclosed, but the composition is calculateo with a view to a balance of power in the Eastern Atlantic and the Mediterranean Well-informed naval circles believe that any threat to New Zealand and Australian territory will practically disappear.
