LONDON BUTTER MARKET SLOW The London butter market remained slow last week. New Zealand finest salted closed at 113 s to 114 s a cwt, which is 15s below the price of a year ago and more than 10s a cwt below the New Zealand guaranteed price. Friday’s closing quotations, with those of a year ago in parentheses, were as follows:

New Zealand: Salted, 113 s to 114 s (114 s: a year ago 128 s to 1295); unsalted, 117 s to 118 s (117 s to 118 s; a year ago 130 s).

Australian: Salted. 110 sto Ills (112 s); unsalted, 113 s. exceptional 114 s (114 s to 115 s). Danish: 105 s f.0.b.; 126 s to 127 s spot (105 s; 126 j to 1275). Dutch: Unsalted and salted, 105 sto 106 s; exceptional 109 s (108 s to 109 s). Estonian: Unsalted. 106 s to 109 s (not quoted). Polish : Salted and unsalted. 105 s to 107 s (107 s to 109 s). South Africa: 102 s to 105 s. except tional, 106 s (105 s to 108 s). Deliveries of New Zealand butter last week were 1958 tons, the quantity in store on Friday being 6525 tons, as against 5505 tons a year ago. Deliveries of Australian butter were 1080 tens, the quantity in store being 1788 tons, compared with 5117 tons a year ago. The cheese market was quiet last week. Friday’s closing quotations, with those of the previous week in parentheses. were as follows : New Zealand: White and coloured. 60s (60s: a year ago. white 68s 6d, coloured 695) Australian: White, 51 s to sos (52s to 565; coloured, 55s to 57s (55s to 575). Canadian: White and coloured, 71s to 74s (71s to 745); old season’s coloured. 82s (82s). English finest farmers’: 88s to 100 s (88s to 100 s). South African: White and coloured. 50s to 56s (50s to 555). Deliveries of New Zealand cheese from store last week were 10.885 crates. The quantity in store was 107,138 crates, compared with 55.632 crates a year ago Deliveries of Canadian cheese last week were 3871 boxes, the quantity in store being 74.807 boxes, compared with 75.123 boxes a year ago. Cheese gradings in New Zealand for the week ended 29th April were 11.546 crates of white and 5767 crates of coloured. a total of 17,319 rates. LONDON STOCK EXCHANGE LONDON, 9th May.
