HARBOUR BOARD MEMBERS
QUESTION OF INSURANCE AGAINST ACCIDENT WHILE ON BOARD'S BUSINESS An insurance company applied to lasi evening’s meeting of the Nelson Har hour Board drawing attention to th< advisability of protecting members bj insurance against accident whilst en gaged on the board’s affairs. A member: "That's a new one.” The chairman (Mr A. Gould): "Well it is worthy of consideration. I am not sure that in these days the board shoulc not extend that protection to its mem bers. It owes that duty to members wives and families” Mr H. W. Kelly moved that the mem bers of the board be insured agains' accident while on the board's business The motion was carried. The secretary is to make inquiries with various companies as to the mos; favourable terms. On the motion of Mr W. B Griffir an opinion is to be taken as to whethei the board is under a liability at common law if members are injured while on the board's business.
