FOG IN AUCKLAND HARBOUR
SHITTING HELD UP SOME HOURS I United l-'rvue AMocialiont AUCKLAND, Thltc Day. Incoming shipping was held up sev--1 oral hours this morning owing to dense fog over the inner harbour. The Matson 5 liner Monterey from California was obJ liged to anchor off North Head at 6.45 1 and was unable to move towards her * berth for three hours. The Aorangi 1 from Sydney, close behind, had to re- - main in the stream a considerable time, i berthing about 11.30. The Mahana from 1 Gladstone (Queensland) arrived early . in the morning, berthing being delayed . until later in the day. The Kopara from Gisborne anchored until the fog started to lift about 10 o’clock. From early i morning the air resounded with fog 1 horns and warning bells. Early ferry I boats were delayed.
