OBITUARY
MR A. N. BURTON RETURNED SOLDIERS PAY LAST TRIBUTES The late Mr Arthur Norman Burton whose death occurred suddenly at Port Nelson on Friday morning, was a son of the late Mr William George Burton. one of Nelson’s earlier settlers. He was educated in Nelson and at the age of 20 enlisted in the New Zealand Forces and saw two years’ service in France. After the war he returned to Nelson and later married Miss Rouhine Hockey. There are the widow, three children, and several brothers left. There was a representative gathering of returned soldiers at the funeral, and the “Last Post” was sounded by Bugler Mockler. Among those present were Colonel Brereton and Captain Roberts (Navy).
