£1,000,000 FROM STRAITS SETTLEMENT (Received 15th April, 9 a.m.) SINGAPORE. 14th April. The Legislative Council at its meet
ing on 24th April, will propose that the Straits Settlements give £1.000.000. payable in London, “as a gift toward the cost of Imperial defence in the British Empire.”
