Owing to ill-health, the Rev. F. C. Lawrence has resigned from the parish of Wyndham-Fortrose, Southland, and is returning to England with his family in March. Mr Lawrence was curate to Dean Askew from 1923 to 1928. Miss Leah Kerr, of Wellington, who was a successful competitor at the Motueka New Year Highland Gathering, won the North Island Highland Fling championship, for g : Is 14 to 16 years, at the Turakina Caledonian Society's sports meeting.

The Hon. W. Perry, M.L.C., President of the N.Z. Defence League, and Mr Eric Reeves, Dominion Organiser for the League, arrived in Nelson by plane this afternoon to address a meeting of the league this evening when a Nelson branch will be formed.
