SEASIDE CARNIVAL
ON WEDNESDAY NEXT
On Wednesday next, when the official opening of the baths takes place, a gala will be held, in keeping with the oc easion. Mr C. F. Skinner M.P. will per form the ceremony, and a very attrac tive programhie, drawn up by the energetic committee, who are leaving no stone unturned to make the carnival a sue cess, should prove enjoyable to botli young and old The men employed on the bath construction have worked very hard, and considering the adverse weather conditions, etc., wonderful progress has been made. bide shows, a Beach Beauty competition and a cycle road race will he arranged, also a wheelbarrow race, and a Baby Show. Swimming sports, a sea-side concert and dance will follow, and, during the evening, the beach will be illmninate i with coloured electric lights. A team of visitiug swimmers is expected to participate in the programme, and, if favoured with fine weather, the committee’s efforts should meet with every success, and the day prove an enjoyable one to pat-
