MORE RATES: ANOTHER PROTEST
ITo The Ed i tori Sir, —1 was very glad to see Mr C. N. Wilkinson’s letter in last night's "Mail,” and am perfectly sure very many householders will agree with him. Like Mr Wilkinson we burn everything that will burn in the coke heater, and all we have left are a few tins and some cinders. I bought a proper receptacle for these at a cost of about 10s, and we have the rubbish service every fortnight which costs us 2s 4d per quarter. We find this most satisfactory. Except in the .middle of winter, when there are more ashes, our can is only about half full when the man collects the rubbish. I am sure none of us want to be taxed for what we do not require. —I am, etc., HOUSEWIFE. Nelson, 27th January.
