CANOPUS MAY NOT PUT TO SEA AGAIN (United Press Association! DUNEDIN, 26th Januaiy. The Westport ( oal Company’s steam collier Canopus, which has been undergoing a survey at I’oit Chalmers during the past two or tlnee weeks, may, it is rumoured, not put to sea again. The survey is said to have revealed defects in the boilers necessitating replacetnent and, though officials of the Westport Company are not prepared to make any statement, it is believed this expense i« not to be undertaken,
Tlie Canopus was built at Newcastle-on-Tyne 36 venrs ago and lias been in the service of the Westport company evei since.
