Ex-police officers are # patrolling the corridors day and night on board the new 85,000 ton Cunard White Star liner Queen Elizabeth, in order to guard the secret of the design and layout of cabins and public rooms on the first section of the passengers’ quarters on “D” deck to be completed at Clydebank. All doors are kept locked. Solid oak cabin doors are ornamented with lattice work and the door handles are made of plastic material, the foundation of which is milk. Oak, sycamore and figured walnut are included in the panel work for walls while floors are covered with a cement compound for silencing.
