WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
The monthly meeting of the Murchison Womens’ Institute was held in the Church Hall, Mrs L. Hutchings occupying the chair. The meeting was opened by all members reciting the aspiration. A vote of sympathy was passed to Mrs J Goodyer and Mrs J. Downie in their recent bereavement. It was decided to hold a children’s party in the Oddfellows’ Hall on Friday, 3rd February commencing at 2 p.m.. The proceeds are for a good cause, and it is hoped that as many as possible will endeavour to be present. Miss Johnson will be visiting Murchison and the surrounding districts for various classes on or about 17th April. The best bloom competition was won t» Mrs J. Downie. with Mesdames W. and C. Watson second and third. Mrs H. F. Demus was proposed and accepted as a member. Mrs Hunter, of Auckland, who is visiting Murchison for a few weeks, attended the meeting. Mrs Hutchings gave a very instructive demonstration on the making of arrow-heads, and the cutting of collars to fit any dress. After a very pleasant afternoon, the meeting was brought to a close in the usual manner.
