INTOXICATED MOTORIST

TWO MONTHS’ IMPRISONMENT TWO PREVIOUS CONVICTIONS TUnited Press Association! CHRISTCHURCH. This Day. Two months’ imprisonment and suspension of his driving license for five years was the penalty inflicted on Raymond Murray Watson, aged 48, when he appeared in Court to-day on a charge of being Intoxicated while in charge of a car on 20th January. Watson had been convicted twice previously for intoxication while in charge within the Inst four years. In reply to a plea by counsel for leniency Mr Levvey S.M. said he did not feel any particular hesitation in imposing a sentence. In most intoxica-tion-in-charge cases one warning was more than sufficient, and accused had been dealt with twice since 1935. Once he had been treated leniently and on the other occasion he had been dealt with severely.
