Public bequests absorbing most of an estate of about £BO,OOO, are provided in the will of Frederick James Dyer. of Mossburn, who died on Boxing Day. Peraonal bequests amounted to £7,200 and tht remainder is divided in public bequests. mostly in Southland. The bequests are : Wallace Hospital Board, to be used in the upkeep of a home for the aged, £300; Jubilee Institute fo r the Blind, Auckland. £500; Luinsden Church of Eng. land, £200; Anglican Orphans' College, Dunedin. £500; l’lunket Society, Southland Branch, £1000; Wallace Branch. £1000; Salvation Army, £1000; Prizes for th;-. encouragement of handwritiug in schools in the Wallace County, £500; !■ unds for sending children of indigent residents of the Wallace County to High School. £IO,OOO. Death duties will absorb about £14,000. The residue of about £40.000 is to go, three-quarters to the Wallace Hospital Board. and one quarter to the Southland Hospital Board. Since the making of the will these boards have been amalgamated and is now known as the Southland Hospital Board. Mr Dyer, who was a bachelor, was for many years a member of the Wallace Board.
