One hundred and fifty representatives of employers and workers in practically every industry, including many Dominion-wide organisations, were addressed by the Labour Minister, the Hon. P. C. Webb, on his desire for greater co-operation in industry and greater production, particularly in regard to secondary industries, with a view to assimilating 20,000 unskilled men at present on various forms of subsidised work.

The Minister’s suggestions received general support and the meeting adjourned for representatives to report to their organisations preparatory to the establishment of the councils.
