CANTERBURY RECORD BROKEN r United Pres* Association 1 CHRISTCHURCH. 16th January The Canterbury record for the 150 yards backstroke was broken by C. Cliff (East Christchurch) at the tepid bath to-night when the provincial championship meeting was concluded. Cliff’s time was 1.43 2-5. This is 3 l-ssec better than the previous record set by G. Low and only 3-ssec outside P. Mathieson’s Dominion record. Cliff swam alone most of the distance.
