FRENCH WORD FOR CAT FRANCE AND IRAN SEVER RELATIONS CAUSED BY NEWSPAPER HEADINGS U I A.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyrigbtl (Received 31st December, 2 p.m.) LONDON, 30th December. The Paris correspondent of “The Times” says that the severance of the Franco-Iranian relations was due to French newspapers using phrases “His Majesty the Cat” and “When Cat is King” in describing a cat show. Owing to the identical sound of the French words for Shar and cat (chat), the Shar of Iran took offence where none was intended.
