Resentment has been aroused by the news of the death of Daiji Takahashi, shipping manager, at Vladivostock, while imprisoned somewhere in Russia. The Japanese Ambassadorial secretary at Moscow demended the immediate release of Takahashi and five compatriots and was informed that he died of illness in gaol, and that the others would be tried on espionage charges.
