MAT AI AND HOSPITAL DRAW GOOD SCORING Maitai met Hospital in the junior cricket championship on Saturday last jon the Hospital grounds. The grounds and pitch were in excellent order, and definitely favoured the batsmen, consequently some good scores were register- , ed Hospital batted first and made the , good total of 205 runs for five wickets ; declared. The chief scorers were Me- 1 1 Murray 69 retired. Thomas 53. Hibbert j , 29. Crawshaw not out 19. Vercoe not out : , n. McMurray played a fine and chance- i less innings His shots were all round j the wicket, and he put plenty of wood J into them. Thomas played a forceful j, innings and the stroke he went out to 1 was his first real mistake. Hibbert, , Crawshaw and Vercoe scored chiefly by boundary hits. Maitai bowling honours were shared by Burns, Hay. Mclvor, and R. Goodman. who claimed a wicket each. ( The second wicket partnership of McMurray and Thomas was worth 93 runs, j Maitai took second stroke and were undefeated at stumps with eight down for 144. Again a good second wicket partnership between Mclvor and Wilson added 74 runs, and so gave a useful start for the innings. Mclvor and Wilson batted attractively and lastly, a patient innings by Gamboni made the game drawn. The chief scorers for Maitai were , Wilson 44. Mclvor 39. R. Goodman 14. Gamboni 12. Burn 10. Bowling for Hospital McMurray took one for 16, Muntz two for 42, Vercoe one for 26. and Thomas three for 22.
