GOSSIPS IN MAYFAIR ITALIAN AGENTS ACTIVE LONDON, 18th November. Captain Franz von Rintelen, who was a German spy during the Great War, but is now a naturalised British subject and lives in England, last week warned Britain that Mayfair society girls were being used by the Italian intelligence department, which was extremely efficient. He asserted that the Italian press was able to announce Mr Eden’s resignation in February, a fortnight ahead, as the result of secret service men picking up drawing room gossip.
