EUROPEAN COUNTRIES AMAZING STORY IN MAPS NEW YORK. 18th November. In the “New York World” is published a map purporting to show that Germany intends to become overlord of most of Europe, Russia and the Near East by 1948. The newspaper says that the map was issued by Nazi propagandists in Austria in order to acquaint Austrians with GerThe seizure of Czechoslovakia and Austria this year is represented by two small maps showing the annexed territory withit shaded lines aiong German frontiers. Another small map, labelled “1939” shows Hungary brought into the sphere of Greater Germany, while the 1940 map includes Poland in a shaded section with Nazi dominance in Yugoslavia, Bulgaria and Rumania. Sensational are the 1941 maps which extend German overlordship to most of France, the British Isles and the Ukraine. The final illustration shows the German sphere in 1948 as including European Russia, Scandinavia, Turkey and the more important Near Eastern nations. Italy, Greece, Albania, the southern corner of France and the south-eastern three-quarters of Spain remain outside the shaded areas of the map.
